Hoosier Routes

Background

Local business owners from my hometown are doing everything they can to keep the small town of Summitville alive. They recently renovated a downtown building into a delicious small-town restaurant. My dad was originally hired to frame the new building but ended up completing the project. I was there when I could be to help with the construction. When it was completed, they needed a website and they had to look no further. I gladly took up the project as I had just graduated college and was itching to develop something for a business. I was with this small-town adventure from start to finish and enjoyed every second.

The Problem

A small business like this won’t be utilizing things like online ordering or catering that might make up a lot of content that would be on the site. They needed a site that would bring people into the restaurant from all over to make up for the lack of business in a small town. It needed to show people what they offered and entice them to go try the restaurant in town.

The Solution

The owners have never had a website before so I guided them through every step of the way and figured out exactly what would suit their needs. The site would feature the basic needs of a restaurant website by giving people an easily accessible menu as well as quick directions and hours. That wouldn’t be enough to bring people in and one thing that interests people in small towns is the history and story. I would feature a section about the town and owners and how they came to deciding to open their very first restaurant. When you arrive you will sometimes meet the owners and often times get into conversations with the locals to learn about Summitville’s amazing history.
